About Secular Liberty Homeschoolers

Don't get the wrong idea...

Secular Liberty Homeschoolers is not an anti-faith group. We’re a live-and-let-live group for homeschoolers or families interested in homeschooling information.

We get together a couple hours weekly or biweekly (usually) at parks, nature centers or museums for activities that offer a learning component and an opportunity for kids to get their wiggles out.

· We don’t ask for membership fees.

· We don’t impose a lot of structure.

· We have a common sense list of rules on our Facebook page, but our most important one is: We ask that every individual be respectful and kind to every other individual.

That’s it! We want to be the easy group you look forward to meeting up with as often as you like — to have fun, make friends and create good memories.

Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024 - Mummy Paper Roll Crafts!

Spooky season is fast approaching, so it's time to get all wrapped up in Halloween excitement with a mummy craft!

At this event, we'll making toilet paper roll mummies. Please bring a toilet paper roll (or paper towel roll cut down to the size of a toilet paper roll) for each of your children who want to participate.

This is a free event, but...

Please RSVP by 9/20 so I can make sure I have enough additional mummy-making supplies on hand.

Hope all your little boys and ghouls can make it!

Let your little performer show their stuff with our first-ever talent show at an assisted living residence in Fort Myers. We'll have a keyboard on hand in case your kiddo is a budding pianist, but all talents are welcome.

Are you an anti-faith group?

No. On the contrary, we support your right to practice your faith your way — and we don’t want you to worry that you’ll attend an event, which posits a tenet that conflicts with what you teach at home.

Our founders prefer to be private about their spiritual beliefs.

Our members range from religious to non-religious and all shades in between.

We all get along great, because we come together and respect each other on the universal principles of freedom and privacy. And that’s how we’ll respect you and your family.

Do you celebrate holidays like Christmas and Easter?

We plan events and activities around the festive elements of holidays (e.g., decorating a tree for the Edison and Ford Winter Estates Holiday Nights Celebration). We respect individual parents’ rights to decide how they want to engage in faith-based traditions at home.

Do you charge a membership fee?

No. And we never will. Why should you be charged a fee to make friends?

Do you charge any event fees?

We may ask for a donation to help with some crafts. We haven't done so yet, but it could happen if we find something super amazing and awesome.

When we set up an activity at an establishment that charges admission, we provide details in advance so you can make payment arrangements directly with the venue.

Is this a co-op?

No. We are not a school or a coop. We’re a social group for homeschooling families and families interested in homeschooling.

What age children typically attend events?

All ages are welcome, but most of our attendees range in age from 1 through 12.

What is the best hockey team on the face of the planet?

Obviously it’s the Florida Everblades.

I’m a single parent. Are my child(ren) and I welcome?

Always.

Will you remove me from the group if I don’t make it to one or more events?

No. We don’t understand why other groups do that.

Where can I find a list of the group’s rules?

We have a list of common-sense rules on our Facebook page, but our most important one is: We ask that every individual be respectful and kind to every other individual.

Is this just for Moms or are Dads welcome too?

Dads are always welcome. And Dad jokes are especially appreciated.

Why can’t you trust a carousel horse to help you solve problems?

Because all they do is go around in circles.
